No Sketch Jam Monday the 21st

Martin Luther King Jr. Day ----- No School

Weekly Jam January 23

Here's the next weekly Jam for all you Jammers:

Monster Mash

What's a party without monsters to crash it? Think of a handful of monsters who'd bring the house down at a party. What'd they be doing? Flirting with the host? Bad dancing? Eating the roof? Run wild with it!

Again any style or medium you want, just make it a challenge for your self.

1st Meeting of Winter Quarter!

Hey lady and Gent. (at least the two who showed up), Thank you for coming to the sketch Jam this week!

This first meeting was a little slow, probably because of a gas leak in the school, and classes were closed until noon, and people didn't know what was going on. So I'll make sure to Email people about the Jam on Sunday for next week as well.

We had a quick Jam session on "the artists hand" anyway though, and came up with some pretty good stuff:

There's Nancy (name?) 3rd quarter animation student (left) and Nick 9th quarter animation student (Right)

Weekly Jam Note

Those who finish the weekly Jam and turn in a copy to the Sketch Jam folder on the animation drive, will have their work posted here!

So join in and have fun creating!

Weekly Jam!

This is the weekly JAM!

Basically the weekly Jam is a week long challenge where a new subject is chosen each week to try for fun. You can use it to boost your portfolio with something stellar, or just fill another page in your sketch book, either way the constant practice will help you in more ways than you know.

SO! Let's begin shall we?

This week's jam is simple: Jazz and Blues Musicians

There are many famous Jazz and Blues artists out there and they're all great characters. So make one up! Draw one up in whatever style you choose, but give it that feel of the Jazz or Blues genre of music.
There's a few examples up top.

Welcome to the JAM

Hi everyone who's browsing!

This is the start of the blog for the Ai of Minneapolis Minnesota Sketch Jam!

The idea for this is one I got from watching several professional artists on Deviant art (http://sketch-jam-cafe.deviantart.com/), and I figured this would be a great idea for building my skills, but also my peers.

Every Monday we'll meet and jam together at school. We pick subjects and themes that we want to try and the whole group gives it a go. We usually limit the amount of time to 5 to 20 minutes each time. Then when we're finished we show the group what we got and give feedback. We're more than willing to change things up once in a while but if that sounds good to you we'd be glad to have you.
Every Wednesday we'll post the Jam drawings scanned in as a collage or pattern of our talent and progress. We'll be here with postings of the sketch Jams and we're always looking for new and fun ideas to put up for Jam sessions.
We may also have separate week jams where you'll have a week to do a certain task and turn in a copy for the blog to show off.

We'll be featured as part of Ai's website and be visible to all the other Ai's as well.

This is a great opportunity to sharpen and show off your skills in conceptual sketching, design layout, and execution of your ideas. It's an important skill you'll use the rest of your careers no matter what part of the industry you're in. But even better than that it's a time where you can relax and draw fun things. We can always use a break from work once in a while.

Thanks and welcome to Sketch Jam Minneapolis!
